List of specialized theological libraries

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theological libraries are often found as part of a theological institution such as the library of a mosque, synagogue, or church. Many Christian institutions can have a theological library. These include, for example, the church libraries, the libraries of a diocese or diocese , a religious community or a monastery such as the monastery library or the monastery library , as well as parish libraries , cathedral libraries and also seminaries and papal colleges . Buddhist or Hindu temples and other sacred buildings can also have theological libraries, such as a Hor Trai . Numerous theological and religious studies universities and colleges also have theological libraries. Probably the largest specialized theological library is the Vatican Apostolic Library in Rome . Collections of theological media as well as manuscripts are also known to us from antiquity. Just think of the Dead Sea Scrolls , the Coptic Gnostic Nag Hammadi writings or the Temple Library of Jerusalem at the time , but also of ancient temple libraries such as the Temple of Edfu .

Theological and religious studies libraries and databases, for example virtual theological libraries, are now listed here.

Organizations

Some organizations are the Association of Church-Scientific Libraries and the Association of Archives and Libraries in the Protestant Church , the Association of Catholic Theological Libraries , the Association of Protestant Libraries , and the Association of European Libraries for Theology .

Numerous libraries own and keep sacred manuscripts; for example, the British Library owns the Codex Sinaiticus , a manuscript of the New Testament. Manuscripts are also being digitized more and more, whereby virtual manuscript rooms are also used. The systematisation of the manuscripts is also an important task. So there is the cataloging of biblical manuscripts .
