Livezile (outdated Cacova ; German  Laßlenkirch , Hungarian Úrháza ) is a Romanian community in the Alba district in Transylvania .

The place is also known by the Romanian names Cacova Aiudului or Vlad and the Hungarian Vládháza or Kákova .

Livezile is located in the north of the Alba County, east of the Trascău Mountains in western Transylvania. On the river Aiud and the district road ( Drum județean ) DJ 107M, the place is 9 kilometers northwest of Aiud ( Strasbourg am Mieresch ); the district capital Alba Iulia is about 38 kilometers south of Livezile.

history

Archaeological finds (from the Paleolithic ) in the Bozguta cave near the incorporated village of Vălișoara ( Agendorf ) show that the area of ​​the municipality was inhabited for a long time. According to reports by S. Fenichel , G. Téglás , I. Hampel u. a. other finds come from the Early Bronze Age .

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1733 under the name Kákova . Since 1964 the place has been called Livezile .

The main occupation of the population is cattle breeding, fruit growing and, because of the limestone in the area, lime kilns.

The highest number of inhabitants in today's municipality - and at the same time the highest number of Romanians - was determined in 1941; that of the Hungarians (9) in 1956, that of the Roma (14) in 1850/2002. In the 1910 census, five Germans were registered once, and one Slovak in 2002 .

  • The Romanian Orthodox Church Adormirea Maicii Domnului , built in 1611 and renovated in 1848, is a listed building.

  • The monastery of Sfântul Ioan Botezătorul ("John the Baptist")
  • There are several tourist destinations in the Trascău Mountains in the vicinity of the municipality. For example, the nature reserve Cheile Valisoarei wherein unincorporated village Poiana Aiudului ( Birkenfeld ), the Bedeleu -Höhenzug ( 1227  m ) and the caves Huda lui papara and Poarta Zmeilor at Izvoarele (ung. Bedellő ).
