Malmysch ( Russian Малмыж ) is a small town in Kirov Oblast ( Russia ) with 8,265 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located about 300 km southeast of the Oblast capital Kirov near the confluence of the Shoshma in the Vyatka , a right tributary of the Volga .
Malmysch is the administrative center of the Rajons of the same name .
history
Malmysch was first mentioned as a settlement of the Mari in the 15th century. In 1584 a Russian fortified settlement was established, which in 1780 received city rights as the administrative center of a district ( Ujesds ).
