Oritschi ( Russian О́ричи ) is an urban-type settlement in the Kirov Oblast in Russia with 7,962 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 40 km as the crow flies southwest of the Kirov Oblast Administrative Center and a good 10 km from the left bank of the Vyatka .

Oritschi is the administrative center of the Rajons Oritschewski and seat and only town of the municipality Oritschewskoje gorodskoje posselenije.

history

A place in the place of today's settlement was first mentioned in 1678. Even after the railway line Saint Petersburg  - Vologda  - Vyatka (now Kirov) was passed and a train station opened on November 15, 1906, the town developed slowly at first, but was named after him because of its convenient location in terms of transport Rajons was chosen as its administrative seat in 1929 and expanded accordingly.

In 1960 Oritschi received urban-type settlement status.

Oritschi has a station at kilometer 915 (from Moscow ) of the main line of the Trans-Siberian Railway , which was opened on this section in 1906 and electrified since 1963 , on the Svetscha  - Kirow - Balesino section operated by the Gorkier Railway .

The regional road 33N-120 from Kirov, following the railway line, leads to the settlement and continues as a local road to the settlement of Mirny in the western part of the Rajon.
