Wachmecke is part of the formerly independent municipality of Frönsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia and has been part of the city of Hemer since January 1st, 1975 .

Wachmecke is located on the western border of the former municipality of Frönsberg, east of Bredenbruch and Johannistal . Other neighborhoods are Frönsberg, Beckmerhagen and Rottmecke . Not far from Wachmecke is the Hans Prinzhorn Clinic for Psychiatry , Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics with over 400 beds.

Minox Museum

In Wachmecke, a private museum deals with the miniature camera from the manufacturer Minox and the inventor and designer Walter Zapp . In addition to 142 different camera models, numerous other exhibits such as advertising material and accessories are on display over an area of around 80 m².
