mode
The Middle Rhine Cup was held in the knockout system . There was one game in each round. If a game after 90 minutes was a draw, it was two 15-minute extended . Had there still been no decision after that, a penalty shoot-out would have followed. The team in the lower class had home rights up to and including the semi-finals. An exception were the district cup winners in the first round, who had home rights as a reward for their title in the first round. All rounds were drawn from a single lottery pot without restrictions. An exception was the first round, in which neither the district cup winners nor the team from the same circle could meet. The higher-class clubs that did not take part in the district cups ( 3rd division and Regionalliga West ) were excluded from this . The final was held on August 22nd, 2020 in the Sportpark Nord in Bonn .
