Neamț district
Neamț [ ˈneamts ] ( ) is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Moldova region with the district capital Piatra Neamț . The license plate number and the common abbreviation for the circle is NT. Neamț means “German”.
The county Neamt borders in the north and in the north-west of the Suceava County , in the east to the Iaşi County , in the southeast of the Vaslui county , in the south of the county Bacau and in the west to the Harghita county .
Demographics
In 2002 the district had 557,084 inhabitants and a population density of 99 inhabitants per km².
In 2011, the Neamț district had 470,766 inhabitants with a population density of around 80 inhabitants per km².

The district has a total area of 5896 km², which corresponds to 2.47% of the area of Romania. In the west of the Neamț district is the Ceahlău Mountains , a part of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains .
