Northampton County is a county in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 267,066 people and a population density of 276 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Easton .

history

The county was formed on March 11, 1752. The name goes back to the property of William Penn in Northamptonshire and was proposed by his son-in-law.

Bethlehem Waterworks in the Historic Moravian Bethlehem Historic District . This Historic District is one of four National Historic Landmarks in the county.

Four places in the county have National Historic Landmark status . 51 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 24, 2018).
