The Northern Ireland Trophy 2007 was a snooker tournament of the 2007/08 season , which was played from November 4th to 11th, 2007 at the Waterfront Hall in the Northern Irish capital Belfast . It was the second time that the tournament was part of the snooker world rankings.
Defending champion Ding Junhui failed in the round of 16 to Stephen Maguire . The Scot in turn reached the final and defeated the Irish Fergal O'Brien with 9: 5. It was the third Main Tour victory in Maguire's career.
On November 8th, Ronnie O'Sullivan managed a maximum break . It was the only 147 break in the four editions of the Northern Ireland Trophy.

There were no changes compared to the previous year in terms of the points for the world rankings . And the prize money remained almost unchanged, only the two semi-final losers got £ 1,000 more.

The top 32 in the world rankings and 16 qualifiers competed in the main tournament.
Round 1
16 players had qualified in three rounds in Prestatyn . They competed against the players from 17th to 32nd place in the world rankings .
Top 32 to the finalThe top 16 of the world rankings were set for round 2 and played against the 16 winners from round 1. finalStephen Maguire was in his fourth final, Fergal O'Brien had his second title chance after eight years after winning the British Open in 1999 . The first session was changeable, Maguire was able to hold a 4: 3 lead after 7 frames. In the evening the Scot was able to pull away to 7: 4, O'Brien only managed to win another frame and Maguire took the win and his third title with 9: 5.
qualificationThe qualifying matches took place from October 23-25, 2007 at the Pontin's Center in Prestatyn . In round 1, the places 65 to 96 of the world rankings played against each other, the winners met in round 2 on places 49 to 64, in round 3 numbers 33 to 48 were added. The top 32 were only used in the main tournament. Century breaks19 players scored 32 breaks of at least 100 points in the main tournament. Ronnie O'Sullivan not only scored a maximum break , his seventh and 59th according to the official count, in his round of 16 match against Mark Allen he achieved five of his six century breaks.
