history

The place was first mentioned in 1331 as "Steinbach". In Urbar for the castle Count's office Roth, which was erected about 1360, the town was first mentioned as "Obersteinbach". At that time the office was only entitled to 4 Reutäcker. In the land register of the now margravial office of Roth, which was established in 1434, there were only 2 Reutä fields of 15 and 20 acres in size. In the plague year of 1562 39 deaths were to be mourned. In the 16-point report of 1608, 12 properties are listed for the location: 2 Selden and 1 shepherd's house were subordinate to the church in Roth, 1 courtyard and 3 Selden to the Seligenporten monastery , 2 Selden to the state charity office of the Imperial City of Nuremberg , 1 courtyard and 2 Selden the Nuremberg owners of Thil and Werdemann . The Thirty Years War destroyed the place. In the Oberamtsbeschreibung from Johann Georg Vetter in 1732 there were 10 properties in Obersteinbach, 3 of which were subordinate to the Principality of Ansbach ( Kastenamt Roth : 1, Gottheshaus Roth: 2), 4 to the Palatinate-Bavarian monastery office of Seligenporten and 3 to the imperial city of Nuremberg.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties and a community shepherd's house in Obersteinbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth . The village and township government had the box office Roth held. The landlords were the Roth Kastenamt (1 half yard, 1 estate with cones, 2 Gütlein), the Palatinate-Bavarian monastery office Seligenporten (1 Ganzhof, 2 half yards, 1 Köblergut ), the State Almosenamt of the Imperial City of Nuremberg (1 half yard, 1 Gütlein) and Nuremberg owners ( Kreß von Kressenstein : 1 whole yard, 1 half yard, 1 Köblergut; Hofmann zu Sündersbühl : 1 half yard). In 1802 there were 12 properties in the village.

As part of the community edict, Obersteinbach was assigned to the Eckersmühlen tax district, which was formed in 1808 . In 1811 it was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Belmbrach . Until 1813, 3 properties were subject to voluntary jurisdiction by the Dürrenmungenau Patrimonial Court .

On July 1, 1971, the place was incorporated into Roth as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
