Israel took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, with a delegation of three athletes, two men and one woman, in three competitions in three sports.

It was the country's second participation in the Summer Olympics .

The youngest athlete was Shoshana Rivner (18 years and 283 days), the oldest athlete was Yoav Ra'anan (28 years and 321 days). The standard bearer was Yoav Ra'anan.
