Pfaffenhofen an der Roth (officially: Pfaffenhofen adRoth ) is a market in the Bavarian-Swabian district of Neu-Ulm and the seat of the Pfaffenhofen an der Roth administrative community .

Pfaffenhofen is located in the Donau-Iller region in Central Swabia in the Roth valley . It is 16 km southeast of Ulm and 45 km north of Memmingen .

Pfaffenhofen borders the following municipalities (clockwise, starting in the north): Nersingen , Bibertal , Ichenhausen , non-municipality area Stoffenrieder Forst , Weißenhorn , Senden , Neu-Ulm and Holzheim .

Chronicle of the Pfaffenhofen market
In 1982 an extensive chronicle of the Pfaffenhofen market was published in book form (276 pages).
Incorporations
On October 1, 1969, the previously independent municipality of Erbishofen was incorporated. It was the first reorganization measure in what was then the Neu-Ulm district. On January 1, 1972, Balmertshofen, Berg, Biberberg and Volkertshofen were added. Beuren, Kadeltshofen (with Remmeltshofen), Niederhausen, Raunertshofen and Roth (with Hirbishofen and Luippen) followed on May 1, 1978.

Between 1988 and 2019 the market grew from 5,960 to 7,243 by 1,283 inhabitants or 21.5%.

Josef Walz (CSU) was the mayor from 1990 to 2020, and was last confirmed in office in 2014. Deputies were Erwin Stötter (CSU) (2nd Mayor) and Karlheinz Thoma (SPD) (3rd Mayor)
In the mayoral elections in March 2020, the previous mayor, Josef Walz, no longer stood for election. Sebastian Sparwasser (non-party) was elected as the new mayor.
