Pheng Xat Lao ( Lao ເພງ ຊາດ ລາວ , ALA-LC : Phēng sāt lāo , pronunciation: [pʰéːŋ sâːt láːw] ) is the national anthem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic . It was composed in 1941 by Thongdy Sounthonevichit (1905–1968) and adopted in 1947 as the hymn of the Kingdom of Laos . The original text of the anthem was replaced in 1975 following the proclamation of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos.

German translation

At all times the people of Laos have praised their homeland,
United in their hearts, minds and strength.
Striding forward resolutely, recognizing and increasing the greatness of the Lao people
And claiming the right to be their own masters. The people of Laos of all origins are the same
And will never again allow the imperialists and traitors to harm them.
The whole people will defend the independence and freedom of the Lao nation.
Determined to fight for victory, to lead the nation to development.
