Qaumi Tarana ( Urdu قومى ترانہ "National Anthem") is the national anthem of Pakistan . The music was composed by Ahmed G. Chagla (1902–1953) and the text was written by Abul Asar Hafeez Jullundhri . It was introduced as the national anthem in 1954.
The text is written in an upscale, poetic form of language, an extremely strongly Persianized Urdu register , and thus hardly understandable for Urdu speakers without a good knowledge of Persian. Only one word, kā in the first line of the second stanza, is exclusively Urdu and not Persianism. For Persian speakers, however, the text is understandable.
