The national anthem of Oman ( Arabic نشيد عمان الوطني, DMG Našīd ʿumān al-waṭanī ) has its origins in a salute fanfare played on the British ship HMS Hawkins for the then Sultan in 1932. The head of the ship's chapel had been asked to give a greeting fanfare for the Sultan on the occasion of the visit to Muscat write, but this originally had a different text. The current text was introduced in 1970 by Sultan Qaboos ibn Said after he took power. The harmony of the melody was again slightly changed on November 6, 1996. Since the time of the Prophet, the text has mentioned the fact that Oman was Islamized during the lifetime of the Prophet Mohammed and is therefore one of the oldest Islamic nations.

Wa-l-yadum muʾayyadan, ʿĀhilan mumaǧǧadan; Bi-n-nufūsi yuftadā. Yā ʿumān, naḥnu min ʿahdi n-nabī Awfiyāʾ min kirāmi l-ʿarab. Abširī Qābūs ǧāʾ Faltubārakhu s-samāʾ Wa-sʿadī wa-t-taqīhi bi-d-duʿāʾ.	O our Lord, protect for us our Majesty the Sultan And the people of our land, With honor and peace. May he live long, strong and sustained, His guidance shall be glorified. We should lay down our lives for him. Oh Oman, since the time of the Prophet we have been a certain people among the noblest Arabs. Be happy! Qaboos has come. Be happy and recommend him to protect our prayers.
