Azərbaycan Marşı ( Azerbaijani "March of Azerbaijan") has been the national anthem of Azerbaijan since 1992 .

history

The song was created in 1919 and became the national anthem of the recently founded Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan and remained so until the incorporation of Azerbaijan as the Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic into the Soviet Union in 1920. The new national anthem was the anthem of the Azerbaijani SSR in 1944 . After independence, the old hymn was used again from May 27, 1992 . The melody is by Üzeyir Hacıbəyov , the text by Ahmed Javad .
