The Bohemian noble family of Poděbrady (Czech páni z Poděbrad ) came from the lords of Kunstadt . After the art town Boček († 1373) came to the rule of Podebrady through marriage , he was the first to call himself “von Kunstadt and Podebrady”. The most famous member of the Podiebrad branch of the family was the Bohemian King George of Podebrady , whose sons were raised to Imperial Counts and Counts of Glatz . They founded the Silesian branch of the family of the dukes of Munsterberg ( Knížata z Minsterberka in Czech ).

history

Members of the Podiebrader or Münsterberger family branch were among the most important political figures in the Kingdom of Bohemia in the 14th to 17th centuries . Her possessions initially included Podiebrad in Central Bohemia and the East Bohemian lordships of Litice , Nachod , Hummel , parts of the area of the former Opatowitz and Pardubitz monastery .

After the death of the Glatzer pledge master Hynek Kruschina von Lichtenburg in 1454, Georg von Podiebrad acquired most of the properties left by Hynek on the basis of a preliminary contract. As a result, he came to the so-called Častolowitz legacy, which also included the Glatzer Land , which he elevated to a county in 1459. With the acquisition of the Duchy of Münsterberg in 1456 he was able to exert influence in Silesia , which formed a political and economic basis for his descendants. As the dukes of Münsterberg , Oels , Bernstadt and Troppau, they founded the Silesian family branch of the Poděbradians (Czech páni z Poděbrad a Minsterberka , also Poděbradové z Minsterberka or Minsterberkové ). They also carried the title of Count von Glatz. Even after the loss of the Duchy of Münsterberg and the sale of the County of Glatz in 1501 to their later brother-in-law Ulrich von Hardegg, they dubbed the Dukes of Münsterberg and Counts of Glatz. Duke Karl II. (Münsterberg-Oels) , who held the office of the Silesian governor , came to the north Moravian dominion of Sternberg through marriage in 1570 ; In 1587 he inherited the Jaispitz rule in South Moravia.

With Duke Karl Friedrich I , the Podiebrad family died out in the male line. His possessions initially fell to the Crown of Bohemia as a settled fiefdom . Since Karl Friedrich's daughter Elisabeth Marie von Münsterberg-Oels was married to Silvius I Nimrod (Württemberg-Oels) , he achieved the feudal transfer of the Principality of Oels to the House of Württemberg in 1648 . The Moravian rule Jaispitz was withdrawn from the sovereign.
