The 1960 season of the Primera División was the 57th season (the 29th of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .

The Primera División consisted of ten clubs in the championship season of 1960, whose teams met twice in a total of 90 championship games. There were 18 game days. The championship won the Club Atlético Peñarol . The "Aurinegros" prevailed in the championship final with a 3-1 win against Club Atlético Cerro after the two clubs shared the lead in the final table with equal points. As the bottom of the table Sud América rose from the Primera División to the Segunda División . The top scorer was Ángel Cabrera with 14 goals .
