Rock Your Life ( proper spelling : ROCK YOUR LIFE ! , in short: RYL !, for example: “Move your life”) is a non-profit educational initiative sponsored by Rock Your Life! gGmbH based in Munich . The core of the organization is the mentoring program, where students are accompanied by a student as a mentor for at least one year. The aim of these mentoring relationships is to support the students in developing their individual potential, developing their personal and social skills and broadening their perspectives. In addition, the school situation should be improved and a successful transition into professional life or to a secondary school should be made possible. The students acquire practical skills for professional life, get to know different living environments and take on social responsibility. Rock your life! was founded in 2009 by a student team at the Zeppelin University under the direction of Elisabeth Hahnke, Stefan Schabernak and Christina Veldhoen. There are currently 51 locations in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, where over 7,500 students volunteer. Gesine Schwan and Cem Özdemir are the patrons .

In the first year of the relationship, the couples receive three two-day training courses on the topics of mentoring, development of potential and career orientation . These trainings are given by specially qualified Rock Your Life! Given to coaches. A mentoring relationship comprises several meetings per month at which the student researches career information with the pupil, writes applications, discusses course material or pursues other activities (e.g. sports ).

Rock your life provides the concept, content support and other services (e.g. IT platforms) for the clubs as part of a social franchise . The initiative is supported by a corporate network with partner companies. These are also used to provide internships and apprenticeships to the participants. In 2014, the first cross-location cooperation “Zukunftskick” was started with the discounter Penny . Rock your life! Locations in southern Germany benefited from the offers of a company tour, an internship and the simulation of the company's application training. In 2015, this cooperation was expanded to 18 cities across Germany.

In 2017 Rock Your Life started! a cooperation with the Airbus Foundation in Munich. The so-called Flying Challenge program is implemented worldwide by the Airbus Foundation, with Rock Your Life! a partner in Germany. As part of the Flying Challenge, the existing mentoring pairs will each be assigned an Airbus employee as a mentor for six months. At the end of the program, the participants were able to experience a flight in a propeller plane or a helicopter. The cooperation was expanded to include the Hamburg location in spring 2018. In winter 2018 the program will take place in Munich, Augsburg and Friedrichshafen.

In spring 2018, Rock Your Life! also a cooperation with Starbucks (AmRest). At the pilot locations in Bonn and Leipzig, the mentoring couples were given an insight into the company. As part of the so-called Barista Day, interested students were able to get to know work at Starbucks for a day. In winter 2018 the cooperation will be expanded to ten locations: Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Cologne, Leipzig, Münster, Nuremberg and Stuttgart.

Against the background of high drop-out rates in training, demographic change and increasing challenges for companies with the so-called Generation Y , the ROCK YOUR LIFE! gGmbH expanded in 2015 to include another program module: ROCK YOUR COMPANY !. Young employees are supported and encouraged in their personal and professional development through in-house mentoring and professional qualifications. The main target groups are trainees, young professionals and refugees. Similar to mentoring for students, the focus is primarily on developing soft skills . Central topics include the development of personal and social skills, getting to know and using your own strengths, setting and achieving goals as well as communication and working in teams.
