Reichsbund Cup 1936/37

The Reichsbundpokal 1937/38 was the sixth regional selection held - and the third competition known as the Reichsbundpokal . The winner was for the first time the national team from Gaus Nordmark , who defeated the Southwest 3-1 in the finals . Nordmark had previously defeated defending champion Niederrhein in the quarter-finals . Last year's finalist Saxony was eliminated in the semifinals by just under 2: 3 against Südwest. The Gau Westfalen relied mainly on players from the series champions FC Schalke 04 this season , but as in all previous seasons, this selection team did not reach the semi-finals and was eliminated in the second round. Even co-favorites Bayern did not reach the semi-finals after losing 6-2 in the quarter-finals against Baden . The Silesian selection team achieved their first ever victory in the regional selection competitions, and in the coming year the competition was even won.

German gymnastics and sports festival tournament 1938

Already in the summer of 1938 there was another tournament of the district selection teams as part of the German Gymnastics and Sports Festival 1938 in Breslau . In contrast to the Reichsbund Cup, there was a main round and a consolation round for the losers of the eighth and quarter-finals. A game for third place was also played. Since the German Gymnastics and Sports Festival took place from July 24th to July 31st, 1938, participation was extremely exhausting for the teams, as they had to play several games within a few days. The team from the newly added Gau Ostmark , so to speak the national team of Austria, won the final against Lower Saxony 4-1. Third place went to Südwest
