Saretschje ( Russian Заречье , German  Pregelswalde, Circle Wehlau , lithuanian Prieglius ) is a place in the Russian Kaliningrad region and belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gvardeysk in Gvardeysky District .

Geographical location

Saretschje is located southwest of the Rajons capital Gwardeisk (Tapiau) and can be reached via a respective cul-de-sac from the Russian trunk roads R 508 (in a southerly direction) and R 512 (in a westerly direction). The next train station is Gwardeisk on the Kaliningrad – Nesterow railway line (Königsberg – Stallupönen / Ebenrode) - a section of the former Prussian Eastern Railway - for onward travel to Lithuania and the Russian heartland.

The establishment of the to 1946 Pregelswalde mentioned village 1370 took place between 1874 and 1945 was the site of headquarters and its name to a newly built office district , which the district Wehlau in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia heard . Before 1908, the towns of Falkenhorst and Johannsdorf (both no longer exist) were incorporated into the rural community of Pregelswalde, which in 1910 had 820 inhabitants.

On September 30, 1928, the neighboring Friedrichsruh estate (Russian: Dnjeprowskoje, no longer existent) was incorporated into Pregelswalde. In 1933, 715 and 1939 only 700 people lived in the enlarged community.

As a result of the war, Pregelswalde came with northern East Prussia to the Soviet Union in 1945 and was renamed Saretschje in 1947 . At the same time the place became the seat of a village soviet. Since 1994 Zarechye has been administered from Oserki . Zarechye has been part of the municipal self-government unit of the Gwardeisk district since 2014 .

Saretschenski selski Sowet / okrug 1947–1994

The village soviet Saretschenski selski Sowet (ru. Зареченский сельский Совет, Saretschenski selski Sowet) was established in June 1947. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the administrative unit existed as the village district Saretschenski selski okrug (ru. Зареченский сельский округ). In 1994 the village district was dissolved and attached to the Oserski selski okrug .
