Signau is a municipality in the Emmental administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . With the name there is a community of residents and an Evangelical-Reformed parish . A civic community does not exist.

Signau is located in the Emmental on the Schüpbach , a tributary of the Emme . The community includes the two villages Signau and Schüpbach, as well as the hamlets Höhe, Mutten and Häleschwand. The neighboring communities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are Lauperswil , Langnau im Emmental , Eggiwil , Röthenbach im Emmental , Bowil and Oberthal .

The length of the municipal boundary is 27 km and its total area 22.15 km². Of this, 7.86 km² is forest, 12.45 km² is agricultural and 1.59 km² is living space. 0.25 km² lie fallow.

The population is around 2700; it has been quite stable since 1990.

The voting shares of the parties in the 2019 National Council election were: SVP 49.3%, BDP 13.0%, SP 10.0%, EPP 5.2%, FDP 4.1%, GPS 5.3%, EDU 3.8 %, glp 4.1%, CVP 0.5%.
