Sušac [ ˈsuːʃats ] (in ancient times Choasa , in the Middle Ages Cazza ) is a small Croatian island in southern Dalmatia in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County . It is located around 40 km south of Croatia's fourth largest island, Hvar, and 20 km west of Lastovo . The island of Sušac has been part of the Lastovo nature reserve since 2006 .

The highest point on the island is Veli Gark at 243 meters . While the north-western beaches are steep, the south-eastern ones are flatter with some sandy bays.

There is a lighthouse on the southwestern Cape Kanula . The Sušac lighthouse was built in 1878 on the 100 meter high, steep southern part of the island. The lighthouse keepers are the only residents on the island. Only sometimes fishermen, beekeepers, shepherds with their flocks and tourists come in summer.

Ruins of Roman buildings and the church of St. Blaise (Vlach or Vlaho) from the 15th century bear witness to an earlier settlement. In the year 1000 Venetians lay in wait near the island of "Cazza" with ten galleys and after a short chase to the coast near Trau, they captured 40 Narentan merchant ships that were returning from Apulia .

Sušac also has rich endemic flora, including Brassica cazzae cabbage .
