Valence (sometimes also called Valence d'Agen ) is a French commune with 5221 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . It is located in the arrondissement of Castelsarrasin and is the capital of the canton of Valence .
geography
The small river Barguelonne runs to the north of the village . The municipality is bordered to the south by the Garonne . The Canal latéral à la Garonne (German: Garonne-Seitenkanal ) also runs directly through the town . The place is about 39 kilometers west-northwest of Montauban .
