The moraine landscape of the Geretsberg community was mainly shaped by the Salzach Glacier from the last Ice Age, which reached as far as Geretsberg. Terminal moraines of this glacier form an edge of the terrain that runs through the entire municipality. One of the highest elevations of this is the Gipfelberg, the south side of which offers a clear view from the Höllengebirge to the Bavarian Alps.

The Dreiberg stands for the community name and the location in the hilly moraine landscape of the Weilhart .
history
Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then "Innbaiern"). Briefly Bavarian again during the Napoleonic Wars, since 1814 it has finally belonged to Upper Austria. After the " connection " of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the place to "Upper Danube" belonged. After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.
In 1953, a coin from the middle of the Roman Empire was found during excavation work in the eastern part of the Weilhartsforst.
parish
In Geretsberg there is a Gothic church (Roman Catholic) that was built in the second half of the 15th century and is consecrated to Peter and Paul. It was headed from 1956 to 2008 by the late consistorial councilor Michael Haslinger. From September 1st, 2008, Pastor Ferdinand Oberndorfer was the responsible pastor and was supported by Deacon Leopold Esterbauer. On September 1, 2010, Markus Klepsa took over the parish. He is pastor of Eggelsberg and Geretsberg.
