Vidochov (German Widach ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 13 kilometers south of Vrchlabí and belongs to the Okres Jičín .

geography

Vidochov extends west of the Kingdom Forest in the Giant Mountains foothills along the Vidochovský creek . To the northwest rises the mountain Kozinec (607 m), in the northeast the Čistecká hůra (586 m) and in the southeast of the Supí vrch (494 m) and the Jerusalém (520 m). State road 16 from Jičín to Trutnov runs through the village . The railway runs to the north between Stará Paka and Jaroměř , where the Horka u Staré Paky train station is located near Nedaříž .

Neighboring towns are Nedaříž and Horka u Stare Paky in the north, Čistá u Horek in the Northeast, Borovnice the east, Stupná, Pecka and Bělá u Pecky in the southeast, Radkyně, Přibyslav and Štikov in the south, Paka in the southwest, Podlevín the west and Levínská Olešnice in Northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village of Widiechowie , which belongs to Pecka Castle , was in 1386 as the property of Jan von Pecka. The district of Stupná can be traced back to 1260 and has belonged to the Pecka estates since 1382. In the valley of Zlatnice ( Goldbach ) at Stupná was operated in the Middle Ages, gold and silver mining. In 1417 Jarek von Železnice and Pecka became the owners of the village. During the Hussite Wars , the Catholic was able to maintain the Catholic denomination in his rule until 1432.

From 1475 the Horšický von Horšice and from 1603 to 1621 Christoph Harant von Polschitz and Weseritz belonged to the other owners of the place . After his execution was Albrecht of Wallenstein goods and presented it to the founded by him Carthusian Monastery Karthaus . The order began after the end of the Thirty Years' War with the repopulation of the desert village by German settlers. In 1795 a German-speaking school opened.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vidochov formed a municipality in the Jičín district from 1850 and in the Nová Paka district from 1900. In 1869 Widach had 1,449 inhabitants. In 1879 the church was consecrated by Bishop Josef Jan Hais . In 1900 there were 1279 people living in the village, in 1930 there were only 554. In 1921 a Czech school was also established in the village, which was closed in 1938. After the Munich Agreement , the Nová Paka district was divided. Widach was one of the villages with a German-speaking majority and was annexed to the German Empire. Between 1939 and 1945 the place was assigned to the district of Hohenelbe . After the end of the Second World War, Vidochov came back to Okres Nová Paka. In 1950 the village had 575 inhabitants. As part of the regional reform, the Okres Nová Paka was dissolved at the beginning of 1961 and Vidochov was incorporated into the Okres Jičín. The incorporation of Stupná took place in 1964.

  • Church of the Holy Guardian Angel, built 1877–1879 in place of a burned down wooden chapel from 1726
  • Statue of St. Wenceslas, on the church, erected in 1888
  • Pilgrimage church of St. Maria Magdalena, above Stupná, the baroque building surrounded by a cemetery was built between 1717 and 1719
  • Na Mýtě chapel in the source of the Zlatnice, east of the village
