geography
location
Wölpinghausen is located on the foothills of the Rehburg Mountains , northwest of Sachsenhagen , west of the city of Wunstorf , east of Rehburg - Loccum and south of the Steinhuder Sea .
structure
The municipality of Wölpinghausen has been a member of the integrated municipality of Sachsenhagen since the municipal reform in Lower Saxony, which came into force on March 1, 1974, and consists of four districts:
- Bergkirchen
- Narrow break with wind horn
- Wiedenbrügge with Buschmanns Landwehr
- Wölpinghausen with parts of Berghol and Spießingshol
history
The area on and around the eastern foothills of the Rehburg Mountains in what was then Dülwald was interspersed with small settlements in the 6th century. The ridge of the Rehburg Mountains served as a connecting path between the boggy lowlands of the forest.
Bergkirchen
Bergkirchen is considered to be the oldest village settlement in the municipality of Wölpinghausen . The place was first mentioned in a document as "Berkerken" in 1174 in a document from the Bishop of Minden . The origins, however - as the oldest settlement on the Rehburg mountains - are likely to be between 800 and 1200 AD. The development was largely shaped by the church . At the site of today's church building, where a chapel was first built, there was originally probably a Germanic cult site. Parts of the current church date from the 12th century. Between 1300 and 1500, Bergkirchen developed under the patronage of the Sachsenhäger bailiffs into a closed village complex on both sides of the ridge path as an anger village . Development was interrupted by the turmoil of the Thirty Years War , the place was plundered several times and suffered from the high taxes paid to the Swedes. With the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, life returned to normal. The county of Schaumburg was divided and Bergkirchen was added to the Hagenburg office .
From 1750, under Count Wilhelm, the immigration of foreigners was encouraged, who received garden land. He also promoted linen processing in order to give the non-possessive layer a better livelihood. Numerous residents of Bergkirchen worked as house weavers for the Steinhuder weaving mills. At the turn of the century, Bergkirchen experienced an influx of workers through a quarry and a coal mine. After the Second World War , Bergkirchen increasingly developed into a residential area. The number of full-time farms has decreased from twelve in 1970 to two today.
Wölpinghausen
Wölpinghausen was first mentioned in a document in 1246 as "Welpinghusen" and was established as a Hagenhufendorf at the beginning of the 13th century . In the 16th century, after further clearing, the Schmalenbruch settlement emerged. The small street settlement Windhorn developed from a single farm in the east of Schmalenbruch in the lowlands below Bergkirchen.
Wiedenbrügge
A brine fountain has existed in Wiedenbrügge since 1238; it was used for salt production from 1730 and delivered brine to neighboring Bad Rehburg in the 19th century. Between 1300 and 1500 the lords of Münchhausen were bailiffs of the diocese of Minden von Sachsenhagen and Wölpinghausen. The farmers in Wiedenbrügge and Schmalenbruch had been servants of those from Münchhausen zu Remeringhausen since the 16th century .
Most of the places were devastated during the Thirty Years' War. After the division of the County of Schaumburg in 1647, Wölpinghausen, Wiedenbrügge and Bergkirchen came to the Office of Hagenburg in the County of Schaumburg-Lippe .
19th century
After 1800, further settlements were established outside the village in Wölpinghausen: The scattered settlements "Berghol", "Spießingshol" and "Hinter dem Berge" were created. In the crisis year of 1847, Princess Ida zu Schaumburg-Lippe arranged for the Wilhelmsturm to be erected on the spot where Count Wilhelm's hunting lodge had stood until his death in 1777 , as a job creation measure for the starving population.
In 1907 a new, larger school building was erected in Wölpinghausen. The teacher Eberling laid out a well-known stone and shrub garden.
From 1898 to 1964 the Steinhuder Meer Railway ran through Schmalenbruch and Wiedenbrügge. The train stations in Schmalenbruch and Wiedenbrügge were built and brought an economic boom and, increasingly, tourism to the small towns. In addition to the dairy in Schmalenbruch, other businesses were established. The former railway line is now a cycling and hiking trail.
The establishment of the three volunteer fire brigades in the community of Wölpinghausen was carried out in a number of rural fire brigades in the Free State of Schaumburg-Lippe in the 1920s, especially from 1925 to 1928. At that time, numerous fire brigades were founded in the countryside, such as in Großenheidorn, Nienstädt, Lindhorst, Wiedenbrügge, Wölpinghausen, Niedernwöhren, Meerbeck, Pollhagen, Steinbergen, Bergkirchen (1929).
Towards the end of the 20th century the development of the community stagnated. Tourists are increasingly discovering the charm of the agricultural region in the south of the Steinhuder Meer nature park .
