Wilcze ( German  Waldhaus Drengfurth ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (rural community Drengfurth ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Wilcze is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 20 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The former Waldhaus Drengfurth was before 1945 a forestry in the municipality of Drengfurth ( Srokowo in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . There were seven registered residents in 1885 and five in 1905.

As a result of the war, Waldhaus Drengfurth came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name “Wilcze”. Today it is an "Osada leśna" (= "forest settlement") within the rural community of Srokowo in the powiat Kętrzyński , until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945, Waldhaus Drengfurth was parish in the Protestant parish church of Drengfurth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of St. Katharina Rastenburg in the diocese of Warmia .

Today Wilcze belongs to the Catholic Holy Cross Church Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Evangelical Church Srokowo , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Wilcze is on a side road that leads from Srokowo (Drengfurth) via Bajory Wielkie (Groß Bajohren , 1928 to 1945 Großblankenfelde) to Brzeźnica (Birkenfeld) on the Polish-Russian border to the Kaliningrad Oblast . Another side road leads from Wysoka Góra (high mountain) directly to Wilcze.

There is no connection to rail traffic .
