Wollaston Medal

The Wollaston Medal is an award given by the Geological Society of London to scientists for outstanding achievements in the field of geology .

The medal is named after the English chemist William Hyde Wollaston (1766–1828). It was first awarded in 1831. It was originally made of palladium , a metal that Wollaston discovered.
