The 2006/2007 season was the third season of the women's second division . The first game day was scheduled for September 10, 2006. The last game day took place on May 28, 2007. For the last time this season, the champions of the three southern German leagues will determine a promoted team in a promotion round. From the 2007/08 season the Regionalliga Süd will be introduced again.
Season course
In contrast to the previous year, the 2006/07 season was less exciting. All decisions had already been made before the last matchday.
In the northern group, SG Wattenscheid 09 was one of the favorites. An eleven point lead testified to the class of the team from Lohrheide. The joy of returning after twelve years, however, was clouded by the major financial problems of the entire club. The biggest surprise came from the second team of Hamburger SV , who were able to secure second place as promoted players and thus become the best promoted team of all time. As in the previous year, bronze went to Tennis Borussia Berlin . The season was again disappointing for FC Gütersloh 2000 . For a long time, the team fought head-to-head with Wattenscheid. In the second half of the season the nerves failed and at the latest after the 1-0 derby defeat in Herford, the air was out. Turbine Potsdam II follows behind Gütersloh . Actually, the small turbines would have achieved third place. Since an ineligible player was used in the last game, the team had to accept a point deduction and a fine. The two other promoted teams had a good season. Returners 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig finished sixth, debutant Herford SV eighth. When framed, Holstein Kiel took seventh place. Curiously, as in the previous year, the Kiel women achieved nine wins, six draws and seven defeats. The SV Victoria Gersten could save himself with a good second half to the safety of the shore, while the attacking harmless FFV Neubrandenburg had in the relegation. Descent had SuS Timmel and TSV Jahn Calden . Due to injuries and pregnancy, both clubs could hardly compete with the best line-up and were largely without a chance.
1. FC Saarbrücken prevailed in the south . Led by the top scorer Nadine Keßler , the Saarland women managed to return to the upper house after three years. FF USV Jena was runner-up . Last year's relegated VfL Sindelfingen scored the most goals in the league, but had to make do with third place due to six defeats. Fourth was the second team of the German champions 1. FFC Frankfurt , which caused a sensation at the start of the season. Behind the fifth TuS Cologne rrh. A broad midfield follows by a distance. While the sixth TuS Niederkirchen and the eighth SC Regensburg were never in serious danger of relegation, SC Sand was able to save itself in seventh place with a very good second half. The minimalists from FFC Wacker Munich scored the fewest goals in the southern group and ended up ninth. FC Erzgebirge Aue had to go into relegation . Karlsruher SC and the second team of SC 07 Bad Neuenahr had to relegate . The increase in KSC's performance at the end of the season came much too late, while Bad Neuenahr was never able to play with the ideal team due to the injuries suffered by their own first team and the resulting redundancies. With 96 goals conceded Bad Neuenahr set a new league record.
