The 2019/20 season was the 16th season of the 2nd Bundesliga in women's football and the second as a single-track league. It started on August 10, 2019 and should end on May 24, 2020. Masters and runners-up are promoted to the Bundesliga , while the last three clubs should be relegated to the regional league.

After the season was initially interrupted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic , an extraordinary DFB Bundestag on May 25th decided to end it prematurely. The season was rated as of the 16th match day. Werder Bremen and SV Meppen were promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. The descent was suspended.

The table status after the Corona cancellation is also the end table of the season. SV Meppen will be promoted to fourth place in the Bundesliga, as the second representatives of VfL Wolfsburg and TSG Hoffenheim are not eligible for promotion. Due to the end of the season, the DFB decided at an extraordinary Bundestag that there would be no relegation and that the 2nd Bundesliga will be increased in the 2020/21 season.
