occupation

AD - Anno Domini is a 5-part miniseries that was created in 1985 under the direction of Stuart Cooper.

action

AD - Anno Domini is a sequel to Franco Zeffirelli's film Jesus of Nazareth and tells the story of the apostles Peter and Paul and the persecution of Christians in ancient Rome .

The Acts of the Apostles are told in great detail, along with the rise and fall of the Roman emperors.

background

The script offers facts not only from the Acts of the Apostles but also from ancient sources. The writer Anthony Burgess , who collaborated on the script, in 1985 published a novel ( The kingdom of the wicked , German The Kingdom of Corruption ), which deals with the same themes as the series.

The film was shot on locations in Tunisia on a budget of USD 30,000,000 .

The epic has only been broadcast twice in Germany so far - in 1987 (ZDF) and most recently in 1997/98 (TM3). Also, until 2016, no videos or DVDs were produced in Europe or the USA . That is why AD - Anno Domini was “unique” for those who recorded this film on one of the two broadcast dates. On November 18, 2016, the movie publishes Fernsehjuwelen The Complete Mini Series on DVD.
