General Low German Association
The General Low German Association (eV) was founded in Berlin in 1885. He saw himself as the umbrella organization of the local Low German associations in Germany .
The goals of the association were:
- Maintaining the Low German language and literature by promoting all efforts that are suitable to preserve the Low German language as a living vernacular and to assign it the place in literature that it deserves
- Association of all Low German clubs, Low German country teams and societies into an organic association
- Agitation to found new Low German associations
- Mutual support of the individual associations by helping out with lectures, lectures, performances, etc. using suitable staff
- Administration of the "Fritz Reuter Foundation"
The foundation should honor the best Low German writings as well as all efforts aimed at the preservation and promotion of the Low German dialects of outstanding importance with honorary awards. Around 1910 the panel of judges included:

The association published the magazine De Eekbom , year books (“Johrbok”) and books and magazines, u. a. The goals of the Neuplattdeutsche movement , directory of Low German art songs or Low German youth publications .
Around 1910, the association included clubs in the following cities: Altona , Alveslohe , Barmstedt , Berlin (10 clubs), Bernitt , Braunschweig , Breslau , Bützow , Koblenz , Danzig , Darmstadt , Dresden , Düsseldorf , Duisburg , Eberswalde , Eisenach , Elberfeld , Elmshorn , Flensburg , Frankfurt am Main , St. Gallen , Goldberg (Mecklenburg) , Greifswald , Güstrow , Hachmühlen , Hamburg , Hamburg-Eilbek , Hamburg-Eimsbüttel , Hanover , Herne , Kiel (2 clubs), Krakow am See , Landsberg , Leipzig ( 2 clubs), Lehe , Lübeck (2 clubs), Lütjenburg , Magdeburg , Mainz , Malchin , Malchow (Mecklenburg) , Malliß , Mannheim , Mittweida , Mülheim an der Ruhr , Nuremberg , Posen , Potsdam , Rendsburg , Ribnitz , Rixdorf , Rostock ( 2 clubs), Spandau , Stavenhagen , Steglitz-Berlin , Stendal , Stettin (3 clubs), Strasbourg , Stuttgart , Tondern , Waren (Müritz) , Warnemünde , Wilmersdorf-Berlin , Wilster and Wustrow (Fischland) .
