Bernhard "Bernie" Weber (born May 6, 1963 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian politician ( GREEN ), musician and communications consultant. Weber became known as the front man of the bands Never Do Well , Twist of Fate and most recently Schellinski . Since November 6, 2019, he has been a member of the Vorarlberg State Parliament for the Vorarlberg Greens .

Bernhard Weber was born on May 6, 1963 in the Vorarlberg state capital Bregenz and attended elementary and secondary school in his home town of Altach in the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley . From 1974 to 1979 he attended the Catholic boarding school Marianum at the Bundesgymnasium Gallusstraße in Bregenz, where he broke off his school career shortly before graduating from high school. After dropping out of school, Weber initially worked full-time as a postman for the Austrian Post in his home town, where he resigned in 1982 when he was offered the position of manager of a post office. He then managed a farm in Rankweil together with a friend , before he was called up for military service in the Austrian Armed Forces in 1983 . From 1983 to 1986 he worked for Nachbaur GmbH in Altach, then until 1988 for J. Kuster-Schweizer AG Embroidery and Textile Production .

In 1988 Bernhard Weber decided to pursue a career as a professional musician with his band Never Do Well . Under the guidance of the Vorarlberg concert event pioneer Josef Ess , who persuaded the band to release their first music album, Weber played full-time as a musician in the following years. In addition, he worked for a time in Ess' concert agency, from 1996 to 2000 he also worked as an employee in the Rankweil music store. In 2000, he switched to the advertising industry, when Bernhard Weber joined a friend's advertising agency in Dornbirn and became a customer advisor in advertising for events, trade fairs and events. In 2002 he became managing partner of Ricquebourg Kommunikationagentur OG , which in 2012 was renamed to today's agency name "Weber, Mathis + Freunde" .

The first band was founded by Bernhard Weber in his early 20s under the band name Never Do Well . The band's musical genre developed into a blues band , which after a short time already played more than a hundred concerts a year. In 1990 he founded the Country - / folk - rock band Twist of Fate , with which he became popular. The band appeared at the Open Air St. Gallen and on June 14, 1991 in the Olympiahalle Innsbruck as the opening act for Bob Dylan . Twist of Fate released seven CDs in the eight years of its existence and made over 700 appearances. As the successor to Twist of Fate , Weber and other former band members founded the dialect band Schellinski in the early 2000s , which have released four music albums to date.

Political career

As early as the early 1990s, Weber was asked about political engagement for the first time, but at that time he said he had to cancel due to lack of time. Ahead of the local council elections in 2015 but was by then Green Members of Parliament Harald Walser recruited for Altacher countryside. He ran for election for the Altach + Die Grünen citizens' list and was elected to the municipal council. He is the party chairman of the Altach Greens in the municipal council.

In the 2019 state election , Bernhard Weber ran for the Vorarlberg Greens in fifth place on the Green List in the Feldkirch electoral district . Private life

Bernhard Weber is married and has five children. He lives with his family in Altach .
