Robert Douglas "Bobby" Brown (born September 24, 1984 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Brown began his professional career in the German basketball league at ALBA Berlin, with which he became German champions in 2008 . After stints in the highest endowed professional league, the NBA , he returned to Europe in 2010, where, after stints in Poland and Greece, he played in the basketball Bundesliga 2011/12 with the EWE Baskets Oldenburg. After he was " Topscorer " of the competition and winner of the "Alphonso Ford Trophy" in the ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 for the Italian series champion Montepaschi Siena , he moved to the Chinese Basketball Association for the Dongguan Leopards in the 2013/14 season .
Career
Brown graduated from California State University, Fullerton , where he from 2003 onwards for the high school team Titans in the Big West Conference of the NCAA played. At the end of his four-year NCAA career, he was the most successful scorer in the history of the Titans basketball team with 1961 points . After not being selected in the 2007 NBA Draft , he began a professional career in Europe. His first professional position was the German first division club ALBA Berlin in the basketball Bundesliga 2007/08 , in which the Berliners were able to become German champions at the end of the season . After Brown was able to present himself to the NBA's officials in the 2008 NBA Summer League , he then received a two-year contract with the Sacramento Kings.
In February 2009, Bobby Brown and Shelden Williams were transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Calvin Booth and Rashad McCants . For the NBA 2009/10 he moved to the New Orleans Hornets. There he was back-up from NBA All-Star and Olympic Champion Chris Paul . Due to the Hornets' savings plans, Brown was transferred to the Los Angeles Clippers on January 26, 2010 . In exchange, the Hornets received a drawing right in the second round of the 2010 draft . For the 2010/11 season, he moved back to Europe in Gdynia, Poland . There he played at the beginning of the season with the Polish series champion Asseco Prokom, who had surprisingly reached the quarter-finals in the previous season in the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2009/10 , together with the German national player Jan-Hendrik Jagla . At the beginning of December he moved to Greece and played for Aris in Thessaloniki .
For 2011-12 Basketball Bundesliga returned Brown returned to Germany and signed a contract with the EWE Baskets from Oldenburg , where he, among others, with his compatriot Ronnie Burrell played together again, who was already in Poland his teammate. Despite good personal statistics, Brown was the top scorer of all players in this competition with an average of almost 17 points per game, the Baskets were unable to play for the championship as they had hoped and also missed participation in the play-offs . Due to a total upheaval in the squad, Brown received no new contract in Oldenburg and then played in the NBA Summer League . For the 2012/2013 season he then signed a contract with the Italian series champion Montepaschi from Siena , who were able to successfully defend their championship title at the end of the season. However, this title was revoked again in 2016. In addition, the team was the only one of three Italian participants in the intermediate round of the 16 best teams in the ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 . There they just missed the quarter-final play-offs. Brown won the "Alphonso Ford Trophy" as the top scorer of all players in the competition, having previously been named " Most Valuable Player " (MVP) of the month in January 2013 .
For the 2013/14 season, Brown then signed a contract in Dongguan, China, with the Leopards from the Chinese Basketball Association .
On December 27, he reached against the Sichuan Blue Whales with 74 points, the second highest point count at the time that was ever achieved in a game of the Chinese Basketball Association . Overall, he averaged 29.2 points, 6.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds for this team.
On March 28, 2016, Brown joined Turkish first division side Beşiktaş Sompo Japan , where he spent the remainder of the 2015/16 season in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi .
In September 2016, he signed another contract in the NBA with the Houston Rockets team.
