history

The ancient city of Cluviae is in the municipal area.

After Italy entered the war in June 1940, the fascist regime set up an internment camp ( campo di concentramento ) in Casoli . The camp was spread over two buildings within the settlement, a private house - Casa Tilli - and a former school. Due to the dampness on the first floor, Casa Tilli was abandoned in 1941 and replaced by a former cinema. The internees (30 in 1941, 87 in 1942) were predominantly German and Austrian Jews who were relocated in 1942 to make way for Yugoslav internees.

traffic

The Strada Statale 84 Frentana leads through the municipality from Roccaraso to the neighboring municipality of Altino . The historic Strada Statale 81 Piceno Aprutina ended in Casoli .
