from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Copa MX 1960/61 was the 19th edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico . The tournament was held following the first division season 1960/61 . Only the 14 teams that were represented in the country's top division in the same season were eligible to participate . The winner was the CD Tampico team , which won the cup competition for the first and only time this season. In six of their seven games on the way to the cup victory, the Jaibas Bravas remained clean. Only in the second leg of the first round against CF Monterrey did they concede four goals and had to go into extra time , in which two late hits from their striker Ricardo Bonelli in the 110th and 118th minute prevented the early elimination.
