The 2008/09 season was the ECHL's 21st regular season . The 23 teams were supposed to play 72 games each in the regular season , but the schedule had to be changed several times due to the early withdrawal of two teams. The team with the highest points of the regular season were the Florida Everblades , while the South Carolina Stingrays won their third Kelly Cup in the play-offs .
