history
Until the church is planted
Ehingen am Ries emerged from an Alemannic foundation and belonged to the Principality of Oettingen . About half of the village (like Erlbach to the north ) belonged to the Protestant line of this house and therefore adopted the new faith in 1539. In addition to the other half of the village, Niederhofen also remained Catholic. The parish church of Ehingen has been a simultaneous church since the Reformation - next to Illschwang in the Upper Palatinate one of the few in Bavaria. With the Rhine Confederation Act 1806, the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria .
The first written mention of Belzheim took place in 1053 as Villa Bellesheim . At the time of the Old Kingdom, the place belonged almost exclusively to the Teutonic Order .
