history
From Roman times there are traces of settlement of a villa and small remains of an aqueduct that led the water from the Versoix to Colonia Iulia Equestris (Nyon). The first written mention of the place took place in 1002 under the name Osinco in pago Equestrico . 1140 the name appeared Osins , 1212 Oisins and in the 15th century Oysins . The name probably goes back to the Burgundian personal name Ausingus or Osingus .
Eysins was the domain of the kings of High Burgundy . The place served as a conference center for King Rudolf III in 1002 . who at that time donated part of the vineyards to Romainmôtier Abbey . In the 14th century Eysins came to the Augustinian priory in Nyon. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village came under the administration of the Nyon Bailiwick . After the collapse of the Ancien Régime , Eysins belonged to the canton of Léman from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic, which then became part of the canton of Vaud when the mediation constitution came into force . In 1798 it was assigned to the Nyon district. Eysins is part of the Nyon parish but has a small reformed church that was built in 1930.
