history
The municipal area of Chéserex was settled very early, as evidenced by the remains of a Roman settlement, an early medieval necropolis and a chapel mentioned in 1093. The first written mention of the place took place in 1025 under the name Chiseras , other names were Chiseracum , Chesarium (1164) and Chasarais .
Chéserex initially belonged to the Saint-Maurice Abbey . After 1025 the place went to the Abbot of Cluny , later to the Abbot Bernhard von Clairvaux . He gave Chéserex to the monks of the Cistercian Abbey of Bonmont around 1150 . The taxes in the village were collected by the abbey and partly by the lords of Gingins.
With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, Chéserex came under the administration of the Kastlanei Gingins in the bailiwick of Nyon and in 1711 to the bailiwick of Bonmont. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime , the village belonged to the canton of Léman from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic, which then became part of the canton of Vaud when the mediation constitution came into force . In 1798 Chéserex was assigned to the Nyon district. The hamlet of Tranchepied, which was formerly part of Chéserex and is located in the southwest of the village, was added to the municipality of La Rippe in 1826 .
