history

Community newcomers

On January 1, 1974, the previously independent communities Bauschlott and Nussbaum were incorporated into the community of Göbrichen. This was given the new name Neulingen .

This was chosen based on the old Nidelingen (also Nitlingen, Neidlingen, Neutlingen). This settlement was in the Göbrichen district near the current “ Neulinger Dolinen ” nature reserve south of the Göbrichen district ( 48 ° 56'30 "north, 8 ° 43'14" east ). The place was first mentioned in the first half of the 12th century; in its heyday between 1150 and 1250, Nidelingen was one of the larger villages in the region with an estimated 350 inhabitants. In 1367, Nidelingen is said to have been largely destroyed in a campaign of revenge by the Schleglerbund against the Count of Württemberg . At least partially inhabited at the beginning of the 15th century, the village was abandoned around 1450.

Today the center of the community Neulingen lies at 48 ° 58'13 "north latitude and 8 ° 43'24" east longitude (position of the church in the district of Bauschlott).

As of December 31, 2018, the community of Neulingen had 6,729 residents with primary residence.

Bauschlott district

Building block

Bauschlott, the largest of the three districts of Neulingen with 3270 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018), was first mentioned in 1071 as "Buslat" in the Lorsch Codex. Over the centuries the monasteries Hirsau, Gottesaue, Maulbronn and the Dominican Sisters from Pforzheim had their property here. From 1532 to 1540, Knight Eglof von Wallstein had a moated castle with four towers built. On its foundations, Friedrich Weinbrenner built today's country palace from 1806 to 1809 on behalf of the Baden Grand Duke Carl Friedrich (the palace is now privately owned). In relation to the castle, the building lottery is also called "Grofen" (Count).

District of Göbrichen

Goebrichen

Göbrichen with 2231 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) celebrated its 900th anniversary in 1992. In 1092 it was mentioned for the first time as Gebrichingen in the Hirsauer Codex . After a checkered history of affiliation, the place became part of the Herrenalb monastery in 1309 . Margrave Philipp von Baden recruited the district area from the monks, and from 1527 Göbrichen belonged entirely to the margraviate of Baden-Durlach. The Göbricher is also called the "deer".

Nussbaum district

Walnut

Nussbaum with its 1228 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) is the oldest of the three districts and named as Nuzboumen in the Lorsch Codex as early as 883; however, the remains of a larger Roman villa that were found near the present-day location suggest that the settlement history goes back much further. A Hercules statuette also found there in 1798 is kept in the Landesmuseum Stuttgart. A copy of the statuette has been exhibited in the Nussbaum Local History Museum since October 2011.

Hercules , recognizable by the club and the apples stolen from the garden of the Hesperides. For a long time the place where it was found was given as Neulingen walnut, but this has since been corrected.

After the Reformation, the place fell to Württemberg and only came to the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 through the exchange and epuration treaty in the course of the Napoleonic border changes .

The Protestant church of St. Stephan has a Romanesque tower, a Gothic choir and frescoes from 1492 and from the 16th century in the choir .

The Nussbaumer is also called the baking basket . According to legend, Emperor Charlemagne was already hunting in Nussbaum while everything was still surrounded by forest and probably nobody lived here yet. Gradually the food supplies ran out. When the monarch asked after the hunt if there was anything left to eat, a little boy showed him a walnut that he wanted to give to his majesty. The emperor was very happy about this nice gesture, but he said that it was of no use to either the giver or the recipient and had this nut put in the ground on the spot. His wish was that, just as a nut tree would grow out of the nut, a village should emerge at this point that would later be called Nussbaum. What is certain is that walnut trees have a long tradition in walnut. Because in earlier times there were numerous nut trees at the entrance to Göbrichen, on the right-hand side.

coat of arms

The overall coat of arms of the municipality has been used in this form since 1974. It is a summary of the local coats of arms of Bauschlott, Göbrichen and Nussbaum: In red a golden sloping bar covered with two black diamonds, above a golden capital letter "G", below a golden sester .

Despite the common municipal coat of arms, pride in one's own local coat of arms is still unbroken, and so the local coat of arms and the district coat of arms are still used today at the entrances to the village on the welcome board for the municipal coat of arms.
