Location of the association of municipalities in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region

The Communauté d'agglomération Grand Belfort is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in Département de Belfort Territoire in the Region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It was founded with effect from January 1, 2017 and currently comprises 52 municipalities. The administrative headquarters are in the city of Belfort .

Historical development

The community association was created on December 2, 2016 with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Community de l'Agglomération Belfortaine (founded in 1999),
• Communauté de communes du Tilleul et de la Bourbeuse (founded in 2014).

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Meroux and Moval became part of the Commune nouvelle Meroux-Moval . This reduced the number of member churches to 52.
