Lacollonge is a French commune in the department Territoire de Belfort in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Lacollonge is 360 m above sea level, about eight kilometers east-northeast of the city of Belfort (as the crow flies). The village extends to the north of the Burgundian Gate , on the plateau in the foothills of the Vosges , in the wide hollow on the brook of the Madeleine .
The area of the 1.92 km² municipal area includes a section of the landscape in the area of the Burgundian Gate (Trouée de Belfort) with only weak relief. The central part of the area is crossed in a north-south direction by the Madeleine, which moves in an approximately 1 km wide valley basin and provides drainage to the south via the Bourbeuse to the Allaine . The area is partly covered with arable land and meadow, partly with forest. The community area extends to the west on the Menoncourt plateau and to the east on the heights of the Fahy forest . Here, at 381 m, Lacollonge's highest point is reached.
Neighboring communities of Lacollonge are Menoncourt and Bethonvilliers in the north, Larivière and Fontaine in the east and Phaffans in the south and west.
history
A Gallic bronze helmet from the La Tène period was found in the municipality of Lacollonge (today in the museum in Belfort). The name La Quelonge was first mentioned in a document in 1196, but it is not clear whether it was today's Lacollonge. The mention of 1573 is only certain. From the middle of the 14th century the area was under the sovereignty of the Habsburgs. Together with the Sundgau , Lacollonge came to the French crown with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. Since 1793 the village has belonged to the Haut-Rhin department , but in 1871 it remained as part of the Territoire de Belfort, unlike the rest of Alsace, in France. Since 1997, Lacollonge was initially a member of the Communauté de communes du Tilleul , which was merged into the Communauté d'agglomération Grand Belfort in 2017 . It is ecclesiastically dependent on Phaffans.

With 228 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) Lacollonge is one of the small communes of the Territoire de Belfort. After the population had clearly decreased in the first half of the 20th century (140 people were counted in 1891), strong population growth has been recorded again since the beginning of the 1970s. Since then, the number of inhabitants has more than tripled.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Lacollonge was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. The water power of the Madeleine was previously used to operate a mill and a tannery. Today there are various local small businesses. In the meantime the village has turned into a residential community. Many workers are also commuters who work in the agglomerations of Belfort and Mulhouse .
The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is located on a departmental road that leads from Roppe to Fontaine. The next connection to the Autoroute A 36 , which crosses the municipality, is about three kilometers away. Other road connections exist with Bessoncourt and Phaffans.
