Mairie Reppe

Reppe (German earlier Rispach ) is a commune in the department Territoire de Belfort in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Reppe is located at 362 m, about 13 kilometers east-northeast of the city of Belfort (as the crow flies). The former street-line village extends in the Burgundian Gate , on the plateau in the foothills of the Vosges , in the wide basin east of the Loutre stream (hereinafter also called Reppe).

The area of the 3.88 km² municipal area covers a section of the landscape in the area of the Burgundian Gate (Trouée de Belfort) with only weak relief. The central part of the area is crossed in a north-south direction by the Loutre valley, which is around one kilometer wide. The stream drains the area via the Bourbeuse to the Allaine . The level in the foothills of the Vosges is on average 360 m. It is mainly covered with arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. To the east the terrain rises slightly to the wooded plateau of the Haut-Bois , on which the highest elevation of Reppe is reached at 399 m. In the southeast the municipal area extends to the edge of the Bois de l'Épine .

Neighboring municipalities of Reppe are Vauthiermont and Saint-Cosme in the north, Bréchaumont in the east, Chavannes-sur-l'Étang in the south and Fontaine in the west.

history

Reppe was first mentioned in a document in 1331 under the name Riespach . At that time it belonged to the Thann rule . In the middle of the 14th century Reppe came under the sovereignty of the Habsburgs. Together with the Sundgau , the village came to the French crown with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. Reppe has belonged to the Haut-Rhin department since 1793, but remained in France in 1871 as part of the Territoire de Belfort, unlike the rest of Alsace . Since 1997 Reppe was initially merged with 12 other municipalities to form the Communauté de communes du Tilleul , which was merged into the Communauté d'agglomération Grand Belfort in 2017 .

Attractions

The Church of St. Blaise ( Église Saint-Blaise ) was built in 1777. A typical example of 19th century architecture is the Mairie-École (parish and school house), built in 1846 from red sandstone from the Vosges. The Notre-Dame de Bellefontaine chapel also dates from the 19th century.

With 342 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) Reppe is one of the small communities in the Territoire de Belfort. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (291 people were still counted in 1896), population growth has been recorded again since the mid-1970s.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Reppe was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. Today there are a few local small-scale businesses and one agricultural machinery company. Part of the runway systems of the Belfort-Fontaine airfield, which was closed in 1986, was on the parish grounds. The Aéroparc, a large commercial and industrial zone, has been under construction here since 1992. In the meantime the village has turned into a residential community. Many workers are also commuters who work in the agglomerations of Belfort and Mulhouse .

The village is located away from the major road connections on a departmental road that leads from Foussemagne to Vauthiermont. The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around five kilometers away. There are further road connections with Fontaine, Bréchaumont and Elbach.
