Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom (Original title: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ) is a film by JA Bayona , which was released in German cinemas on June 6, 2018. The film is a sequel to Jurassic World from 2015 and thus the fifth part of the Jurassic Park film series . A continuation is planned for 2021.

Three years after the destruction of Jurassic World, a volcano threatens to erupt on Isla Nublar. Mankind is faced with the question of whether to save the dinosaurs or let them become extinct again. After the Senate ruled against a bailout, Benjamin Lockwood, the former business partner of John Hammond, founder of the original Jurassic Park, turned to Claire Dearing, the amusement park's former director. Together with Eli Mills, a partner of Lockwood, she is planning an expedition to the island. She also recruits Owen Grady, who should track down the intelligent raptor Blue, as he is the last survivor of the four velociraptors he once trained and raised.

After Owen and Claire, along with Dr. Zia Rodriguez and Franklin Webb, both employees from Claire's company, landed by plane on Isla Nublar, they penetrate together with some gunmen into a dilapidated computer center. There Franklin manages to locate Blue, whereupon Owen makes his way to this. When the armed hunters try to stun Blue, contrary to Owen's instructions, she defends herself and is shot and taken prisoner as a result. Owen is also drugged and left in the jungle. When he comes to, the volcano begins to erupt. After narrowly escaping the outbreak, Owen, Claire and Franklin watch as some captured dinosaurs are loaded onto a freighter under the direction of Ken Wheatley, a trophy hunter who pulls dinosaur teeth for his collection. The three manage to smuggle themselves onto the ship and thus escape from the island. There they also meet Zia again, who is forced by Wheatley to treat Blue. It becomes clear that only a blood transfusion can keep the Raptor alive, so Owen and Claire draw blood from the anesthetized T-rex and then transfuse Blue.

It turns out that the animals are to be brought to the Lockwood estate and auctioned off there by Mills and auctioneer Gunnar Eversoll to various interested parties, including arms dealers , instead of relocating them to a new island. When Lockwood finds out and confronts Mills, Mills suffocates him with a pillow. Meanwhile, Owen and Claire followed the other transporters with the dinosaurs from the ship. They are recognized on the way and then locked up in the Lockwood estate. Meanwhile, the genetically modified "Indoraptor", which can be ordered to attack with laser targeting , will be demonstrated at the auction . With the help of a stygimo hole , Owen and Claire can free themselves from captivity. They release the animal at the auction, causing chaos and buyers to flee. Shortly afterwards Wheatley enters the hall and shoots tranquilizer arrows at the Indoraptor to pull a tooth out of his collection. The Indoraptor only pretends to be stunned, attacks the surprised Wheatley and kills him. He then breaks out of the cage and also kills Eversoll, who is hiding in an elevator. Owen, Claire and Lockwood's granddaughter Maisie, who found him dead in his bed, meet Mills. This reveals to the three that Maisie is not Lockwood's granddaughter, but the clone of his daughter, who died young.

When the Indoraptor surprises the group, Maisie flees to her room and hides there. Meanwhile, Blue, who has recovered, was able to free herself from her cell with the help of Franklin and Zia. During an exchange of fire, a guard hits a container and toxic hydrogen cyanide escapes . The Indoraptor has now gained access to Maisie's room, but is stopped by Blue and Owen. During the final fight on the roof of the property, Blue falls with the Indoraptor through a glass roof, whereupon it is impaled on the fossil skull of a Triceratops. Claire discovers that the leaking hydrogen cyanide is endangering the lives of all dinosaurs trapped in the estate. With a heavy heart, she decides to let the animals die, but in the end Maisie releases them on the grounds that she herself is a gene experiment and is allowed to go on living. The fleeing Mills is eaten by the Tyrannosaurus rex .

In the end, the Mosasaurus is off a coast, the T-Rex roars at a lion in the zoo, and Blue runs over a hill near a town.

In the post-credit scene , three pteranodons can be seen on the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas.

The director took Juan Antonio Bayona . The screenplay for the film was written by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow , who also directed the previous film Jurassic World . Daniel Krüger from Musikexpress thinks that director Juan Antonio Bayona knows that dinosaurs cannot be meaningfully embedded in a coherent plot anyway, and therefore immediately opted for a staging that is as classic as the universal logo before the start of the film: "Style over Substance" . In February 2019 it was also reported that a short film would be shown as a supporting film for Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw in summer 2019 .
