history

Until the founding of the forerunner churches

Großkötz belonged to the Austrian margraviate of Burgau , and the Ehinger patrician family from Ulm from 1408 until the middle of the 18th century . Since the peace treaties of Brno and Pressburg in 1805, the place has belonged to the newly formed Kingdom of Bavaria . In Kleinkötz, on the other hand, the patricians Holzapfel von Herxheim ruled until 1806 , sharing the street court with the realm of Wettenhausen ; Ebersbach also belonged to the possessions of this monastery. In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria, the municipal edict of 1818 created the municipalities of Großkötz and Kleinkötz.

Incorporations

The municipality of Kötz was created on July 1, 1972 through the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent municipalities of Großkötz and Kleinkötz. The community Ebersbach was incorporated on May 1, 1978 in the course of the regional reform.

City council and mayor

The municipal council has 16 members. Since the 2020 local elections , they have been divided into the following lists:

  • Free voter community (FWG): 9 seats (58.3%)
  • CSU : 7 seats (41.7%)

In the period from 2014 to 2020, the FWG and CSU each had seven seats and the SPD two seats; the latter no longer submitted an election proposal. The FWG won two additional mandates.

Mayor has been Sabine Ertle (Free Voting Association) since May 1, 2020; she was elected on March 15, 2020 from a competitor with 62.1% of the vote. Her predecessor was Ernst Walter from May 2008 to April 2020, who no longer stood for election.

The municipal tax revenue in 2011 amounted to the equivalent of € 2,494 thousand, of which trade tax income (net) accounted for the equivalent of € 708 thousand. The per capita debt was € 375 in the same year.
