history

The place was in the 1360/70 Urbar the burgrave Nuremberg mentioned as "Keydenzelle" was first documented. There were 21 farm estates at that time. From the basic word “-zell” one can conclude that the place was founded from a monastery, in this case the Herrieden monastery . The place belonged to the Herrieder monastery office Hornsegen and must have been founded in the 9th century, as the monastery was dissolved again in 888. The defining word of the place name is possibly the Slavic personal name Kojata / Kaita.

In the 14th century a chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas was built in the village. Some goods were sold to the imperial city of Nuremberg , the castle counts' properties were passed on to its legal successor, the Principality of Ansbach , in the 15th century . During the 30 Years War , the place and the chapel were destroyed.

At the end of the 18th century there were 24 properties in Keidenzell. The high court and the village and community rulership was exercised by the Brandenburg-Ansbach municipal bailiff's office in Langenzenn . The landlords were the Cadolzburg caste office in Brandenburg-Ansbach (three courtyards, ten half-yards, five estates, two houses, a hammer forge, Ödenhof) and the state alms office of the Imperial City of Nuremberg (one yard, one half-yard).

As part of the municipal edict, the Keidenzell tax district was formed in 1808 , to which the towns of Burggrafenhof , Hammerschmiede , Klaushof , Ödenhof , Stinzendorf and Wittinghof belonged. In the same year, the Keidenzell rural community was founded, which was congruent with the tax district. She was in administration and jurisdiction of the district court Cadolzburg and in the financial administration of the bursary Cadolzburg (in 1920 the tax office Cadolzburg renamed). From 1862 Keidenzell was administered by the Fürth district office (renamed the Fürth district in 1938 ). Jurisdiction remained with the Cadolzburg District Court until 1879, from 1880 to March 1, 1931 it was with the Cadolzburg District Court , since then it has been exercised by the Fürth District Court . The financial management was taken over on January 1, 1929 by the Fürth tax office . The municipality had an area of 13,221 km².

A building was erected between 1863 and 1865, which served partly as a school and partly as a prayer house.

With the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Keidenzell was incorporated into the city of Langenzenn on May 1, 1978.
