Career
Youth and education
Alexander Killorn was born in Halifax but grew up in Beaconsfield , near Montréal . In Montréal he attended Loyola High School and played in the Quebec Junior Hockey League for the Lac Saint-Louis Lions . About the turn of the year 2005/06 Killorn took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2006 and won the gold medal there with Team Canada Québec. After the 2005/06 season he moved to the elite Deerfield Academy , a boarding school in Deerfield , Massachusetts , where he played golf as well as ice hockey . After a year at Deerfield, in which he scored 32 points scorer in 25 games, he was selected in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 77th position. After his second year in Deerfield, in which he increased to 55 scorer points, he began studying in 2008 at Harvard University, also in Massachusetts .
During his four-year study, the Killorn with a Major of Gouvernment (dt about. Bachelor in Public Administration) graduated, he increased his personal statistics from year to year. As a senior he got 46 scorer points in 34 games, with the Harvard Crimson reaching third place in the 2011/12 regular season and not failing in the subsequent play-offs until the final at Union College . Killorn himself was appointed to the All- ECAC Hockey First Team for the regular season as well as to the ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team for the play-offs.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Immediately after studying and playing in the college league, Killorn signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning , who had selected him in the 2007 draft. They initially sent him to their farm team , the Norfolk Admirals, in the American Hockey League (AHL) . With the Admirals he took part in the Calder Cup play-offs and won the cup in the final against the Toronto Marlies . In the following season 2012/13 Killorn played about equal parts with the new farm team Syracuse Crunch in the AHL and with the Lightning in the NHL. He made his NHL debut on February 10, 2013 against the New York Rangers and scored his first NHL goal against the Florida Panthers a week later .
As a result, he had a regular place in the NHL squad and completed all 82 regular season games in the 2013/14 season as one of only three players on the team. Then Killorn extended his contract in Tampa in June 2014 for another two years. In the 2014/15 season he reached the Stanley Cup final with the Lightning, but lost to the Chicago Blackhawks .
After the 2016/17 season, Killorn made his debut for the Canadian senior team at the 2017 World Cup , where he won the silver medal with the team.
