history
Hernstein goes back to the formation of rule by the Bavarian Counts of Falkenstein and Neuburg . In 1125 the Falkensteiner Reginold was documented as the named de Harrandistein . When the Falkenstein family fell in the middle of the 13th century, Hernstein fell to the Freising monastery . In the early modern period the rulership in Hernstein changed frequently. On May 19, 1994, Hernstein was raised to a market town.
